Voorheesville MS honored to host crystal replica of Twin Towers
Display concludes Sept. 16
(Sept. 15, 2011) Voorheesville Middle School is honored to be the
location of the public unveiling of a crystal replica of the World Trade
Centers. Theresa Balfe-Gallager, a 1985 graduate of Voorheesville and a
current resident, serves as the President of the Associated Licensed
Detectives of New York State (ALDONYS), the group that bought and
donated this beautiful solid crystal replica of the Twin Towers which
perished on September 11, 2001. They have graciously offered to share
this special display with Voorheesville parents and students this week.
The crystal tiers are displayed in the case just inside the main
entrance of the Middle School through the end of the week. They will
then be shown around the Albany area for a few weeks before being
brought to New York City.
"I am honored to have it shown in public for the FIRST time at my high
school Alma Mater, where my children attend school and in the town where
my business is located," said Mrs. Balfe-Gallager.
The two solid crystal tiers sit on the base as light shines from the
bottom up through the towers. In addition, there is a plaque attached to
the base with the names of all of the Licensed Security Officers that
lost their lives on that day. The intent of creating and donating this
replica was to ensure that ALDONYS properly and respectfully honored all
the Security Officers who stood their posts and selflessly assisted
others while giving their lives on September 11th. Their heroic display
of courage and dedication to the security profession will always be
remembered by all New Yorkers, especially by the 250,000 members that
ALDONYS represents.
In addition, the display case has an actual piece of wreckage from the
Twin Towers.
