Voorheesville CSD welcomes Imran
Abbasi, Clayton A. Bouton's new high school principal
(August
4, 2010) On July 1 Voorheesville Central School District welcomed Imran
Abbasi as principal of Clayton A. Bouton High School. He succeeds Mr.
Mark Diefendorf who retired June 30 after 20 years of service, eight of
which as principal.
Abbasi comes to Voorheesville from
Niskayuna where he served as assistant principal of the district's two
middle schools since August 2008. Prior to that, he served as assistant
principal of Cairo-Durham School District's middle/high school for a
year, intern principal of Guilderland's Farnsworth Middle School's 2006
summer school and as a team leader and coordinator in the Bethlehem
Central School District. Abbasi's roots in education started as an
alternative education teacher at Philip Livingston Magnet Academy in
2000 followed by six years of teaching 7th-grade social studies at
Bethlehem Central Middle School.
Abbasi received his Bachelor of Arts
degree in Social Studies in August 2000 and his Masters of Science in
Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology in August 2004, both
from the State University of New York at Albany. He obtained his School
District Administrator certificate from SUNY Albany in 2007. Abbasi has
been accepted in the PhD program at SUNY Albany in the Educational
Administration and Policy Studies program and will start his coursework
in the spring.
"I am very excited to be joining the
Voorheesville School District as the principal of the Clayton A. Bouton
High School," said Abbasi. " While Voorheesville is known for its
excellence in education, its strong sense of community is equally
impressive which makes me feel very fortunate to be a part of this
school district. I look forward to working with students, staff and
parents in continuing to provide each of our students with an
outstanding foundation for the future."
