2nd Annual Media Arts Festival to
feature documentary filmmakers, technology work of students and alumni
Community invited to attend on
March 23
March 10, 2010- The Voorheesville
Central School District has announced the scheduling of its second
annual Media Arts & Technology Festival on Tuesday, March 23, at 6:30
p.m. at the high school. The event will
start with a keynote address from James and Maureen Tusty, local
documentary filmmakers based in East Greenbush, who are the producers of
the documentary "The Singing Revolution." The festival will continue as
an open house featuring collections of current student work in the
fields of art, technology and digital graphics, technology exhibits of
students demonstrating the software they use in the technology program
at Voorheesville, and an alumni showcase featuring the work of
Voorheesville graduates in many technological fields.
"We encourage community members, parents, staff and students to
attend to see how students are utilizing the latest technologies," said
Brian Stumbaugh, educational technology specialist. "We are really
excited about having some of our alumni come back and share their work
with students. It's a great opportunity for them to see some of the
amazing things their fellow Blackbirds are doing in the fields of art,
photography, acting and technology."
Admission to the event is free and open to the public.
The Media Arts and Technology Festival will be the culmination of events
throughout the day at the high school. Other events planned for the day
include classroom workshops led by the Tustys, alumni lectures and
