High
school has most successful blood drive yet
(March 31, 2010)-Faculty,
students and staff members at Clayton A. Bouton High School and members
of the community set a record for units of blood donated--75--at the school’s
spring blood drive on Tuesday, March 30—surpassing
their goal of 61 units.
Erin Wascavage of the American Red Cross shared the
following statistics from yesterday's blood drive:
Tom Gladd, faculty advisor to the Student Council,
praised the students for organizing the event, saying it helps provide
an invaluable service to people in need.
“We had our most successful blood drive yet," Gladd
said. "I’d like to thank the Student Council for organizing the event
and all those who supported the drive. Once again we will be receiving a
$200 scholarship from the Red Cross in recognition of the great efforts
of the students. The scholarship will be awarded in June."
The school holds two blood drives each year, one in
the spring and one in the fall. High school seniors who give blood are
given credit toward the community service hours they must earn to
graduate.
