Institute to feature local novelist
Elizabeth Brundage
(June 9, 2010) With just a few spots
remaining for this year's Cole Summer Writers Institute, July 12-16,
students at the Voorheesville Middle School and the Clayton A. Bouton
High School are encouraged to get their applications in.
The
Cole Summer Writers Institute is a one-week writing workshop for
students that started in 2004. Funding is underwritten by the Karen Cole
Foundation.
During the workshop, students will
participate in a variety of writing activities, including a one-day
session with guest speaker and local novelist Elizabeth Brundage, author of The Doctor's Wife, Somebody Else's Daughter, and the upcoming A Stranger Like You. To culminate the students’ efforts, their
completed work will be published inThe Blackbird Review—the
district’s literary magazine. "The
Institute gives middle school and high school age writers an opportunity
to hone their writing skills in a fun, relaxed environment," says
Institute Director Brian Stumbaugh. The
workshop will run July 12-16 from 9-11:30 a.m at Clayton A. Bouton High
School. The fee is $50. For more information or to apply, please visit
