Board, community narrow down candidates
Feb. 12, 2009 – With the community's help, the
Voorheesville Board of Education has narrowed down the field of
potential candidates for the superintendency to four finalists. The
board will hold another round of interviews with the finalists on Feb.
24 and 26 in order to select one or two final candidates for further
review.
Members of the Superintendent Search Committee, including parents,
senior citizens, community members, administrators and representatives
of the PTA interviewed seven semi-finalists selected by the board in
early February. After providing their input on the strengths and
weaknesses of each candidate, the board selected the four finalists.
The Board of Education, with the assistance of the Capital Region BOCES,
at no cost to the district, began the search process in August after
former superintendent Linda Langevin announced her resignation.
Nearly 30 applications were initially received from which two dozen
candidates were selected for preliminary interviews with the Board of
Education and BOCES District Superintendent Chuck Dedrick.
