Superintendent search update
Application deadline closed, preliminary
interviews underway
Jan. 22, 2009 – The Voorheesville Central School
District is one step closer to finding a new superintendent of schools.
More than 30 applications were received from qualified candidates
throughout the state by the January 5, 2009, deadline.
Capital Region BOCES, which is leading the search process at no cost to
the district, screened potential candidates, and the Voorheesville Board
of Education is currently interviewing more than two dozen candidates.
Following the preliminary interviews, qualified candidates will go on to
interview with the Superintendent Search Committee in early February.
The committee includes a select group of community members who have
already been selected by the board, including administrators, parents,
senior citizens and members of the Voorheesville Teachers Association,
Parent Teacher Association and United Employees of Voorheesville.
After the committee provides their feedback on the strengths and
weaknesses of each candidate, the board will conduct a series of
interviews to select the final candidate.
The district expects to name a new superintendent in spring 2009, with
the individual beginning his or her duties in June or July.
