High school play set for March 27-29
March 12, 2009 - The Voorheesville Dionysians,
the High School Drama Club, will present Flowers for
Algernon on Friday and Saturday, March 27 & 28, at 7:15 p.m., as
well as on Sunday, March 29, at 2:15 p.m. in the Middle/High
School's Performing Arts
Center. Tickets are available at the door. The cost is $8 for adults
and $5 for students and senior citizens.
Originally a short story, Flowers for
Algernon was expanded to a novel and adapted for stage and screen.
It is a profound and touching play focusing on Charlie, a mentally
disabled man in his 30s, who is given a rare opportunity to undergo a
new operation that would boost his IQ to genius level. Unforeseen
negative results occur and complicate his new life.
