Thomas Reardon selected as Voorheesville
Elementary School principal
April 24, 2009 – Thomas Reardon has been selected as the new principal
of Voorheesville Elementary School.
Interim Superintendent Raymond Colucciello will recommend him to the
Voorheesville Board of Education at their May 11 meeting, and he is
expected to begin his new duties on July 1.
Reardon was selected after an extensive search process, which involved
community members and staff, including incoming superintendent Dr.
Teresa Thayer Snyder.
“Tom was selected from an outstanding pool of candidates,” said
Colucciello. “We are fortunate to have a leader with such knowledge,
experience and enthusiasm join the Voorheesville Central School
District.”
Reardon will replace Ken Lein, who resigned in June 2008 to take a
position in the Albany City School District. Since Lein’s resignation,
Edward Diegel has been interim principal.
“It is a distinct honor to lead a building and be part of a district
that values, and caters to, the unique learning and social needs of its
children,” said Reardon.
Reardon has more than seven years of education experience. He currently
serves the Bethlehem Central School District, where he has been employed
since 2002. He is an elementary dean at Slingerlands Elementary School—a
role he has been in since 2007. He is also a consolidated grants
coordinator for the district. Prior to becoming an elementary dean,
Reardon was an administrative intern for one year and an English teacher
for five years at Bethlehem Central Middle School.
He is also an adjunct instructor at The College of Saint Rose and Siena
College, a published author and testing consultant for CTB McGraw-Hill.
Reardon previously served as vice-president of the Bethlehem Central
Teachers Union and as a Strive for Success Study Program teacher.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in English from Siena College and his
master’s degree in curriculum development and instructional technology
from the University at Albany. He received his school district
administrator certificate from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts/SUNY
College at Plattsburgh.
