Voorheesville seniors named National Merit Commended Students

Oct. 9, 2008 - Congratulations to the Clayton A. Bouton High School seniors who have been named Commended Students in the 2009 National Merit Scholarship Competition.

The students are: Siana Jannesari, Fannie Liu, Cassandra Sanchez and Joshua Turner. 

High School Principal Mark Diefendorf presented the students with letters of commendation from the high school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, earlier this week.

The students are among 34,000 Commended Students nationwide being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2009 competition for Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1.4 million students who entered the 2009 competition by taking the 2007 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
