"Emergency Go Home Drill" set for Nov. 10

All students to be dismissed 15 minutes early

Oct. 23, 2008 - According to New York State Education Department guidelines, all school districts in the state are required to conduct annual drills to prepare for the evacuation of students and staff in case of an emergency.

As part of this plan, the Voorheesville Central School District will be conducting its annual "Emergency Go Home Early Drill" on Monday, November 10. All students will be dismissed 15 minutes earlier than their normally scheduled dismissal times. Students and staff who have after school activities will be housed in a separate area while awaiting the completion of the drill.

Though it may be an inconvenience for parents to have their children dismissed early, it is imperative that students practice this important procedure. Parents' support of this process is greatly appreciated.
