Parents, community members learn about cyberbullying during public forum
Feb. 13, 2009 - Earlier this week, the Voorheesville Central School
District's Performing Arts Center was packed with parents and community
members wanting to learn more about cyberbullying—the
use of any electronic communication or device to intentionally and
repeatedly harm or intimidate another person.
With more and more pre-teens and teens using social networking sites,
cyberbullying has become a major concern. Fortunately, David Adkins, New
York State United Teachers Association's director of information
technology and a community member, was available to discuss this growing
issue.
Adkins explained cybersafety and cyberbullying, shared some fascinating
statistics, and offered tips, advice and additional resources for
parents to help keep their children safe.
