Middle School Builders Club helping needy people in Uganda

Sneaker and sandal drive to run through March 31
 

March 12, 2009 - Voorheesville Middle School's Builders Club is collecting gently used or new sneakers and sandals (no shoes or boots please) of all sizes, from March 9-31, to donate to needy people in Uganda, a country in Eastern Africa. Many Ugandans often cut their feet on the rocky terrain, because they simply cannot afford to buy footwear. 

Students, staff and community members are encouraged to consider helping this worthy cause, and submit a donation by Tuesday, March 31. Several drop-off locations are available throughout the community, including  Voorheesville Middle School, Voorheesville Elementary School, Hannaford and the Voorheesville Public Library.   

The Builders Club is part of an international community service organization designed for middle school students. This “student-led” organization is sponsored by the local Kiwanis Club.
