Voters approve district budget
May 20, 2009—On
May 19, Voorheesville Central School District residents approved the
district’s $21,662,438 proposed budget for the 2009-10 school year by a
margin of 566 yes votes to 290 no votes.
Spending in next year’s budget remains flat over the current year budget
and carries an estimated tax levy increase of 1.69 percent.
Voters also approved a $99,600 bus proposition to purchase one new
60-passenger school bus. The vote was 574 yes votes to 270 no votes.
In the Board of Education race, incumbents Cheryl Dozier and C. James
Coffin were elected to two open seats on the board. They will each serve
four-year terms, effective July 1, 2009.
