Budget update
Two board seats up for election
March 16, 2009 – Two seats on the Voorheesville
Board of Education will be up for election on Tuesday, May 19. The terms
will commence on July 1, 2009, and expire on June 30, 2013.
Qualified voters who are interesting in running for a seat on the board
should pick up a nominating petition from the district office, 432 New
Salem Road, Voorheesville. Candidates must collect 25 signatures to
appear on the ballot, and return the petition to the district clerk’s
office by Monday, April 20, at 5 p.m.
To qualify for membership on the Board of Education,
an individual:

Must be over 18 years of age as of the date of
the vote
-
A qualified voter (US citizen, who has resided
within the district for at least 30 days prior to election, and who
is not a convicted felon currently serving jail time)

Must be able to read and write
-
Must be a resident of the district for one year
-
Cannot be employed by the district
-
Cannot live in the same household with a family
member who is also a member of the board
-
May not simultaneously hold another,
incompatible public office
-
Must not have been removed from a school
district office within one (1) year preceding the date of
appointment or election to the board
The Voorheesville Central School District’s Board of Education is
comprised of seven board members who serve four-year terms. Members are
elected by voters of the district, and receive no salaries or other
compensation.
