Local children's book illustrator visits Voorheesville Elementary School

Local illustrator Jeffrey Scherer recently spent an afternoon with first-graders at Voorheesville Elementary School.

Scherer has illustrated 11 children’s books, including "Pet Your Pet," "One Snowy Day," "Whooo's There?" "What is That? Said the Cat," and the "Bug Bunch" series. His first book, "Wake me in Spring," was about a hibernating bear and was published in 1994.

Scherer's books are geared to kindergartners and first-graders.

In addition to illustrating books, Scherer works as an online producer for the Times Union newspaper in Albany.
