Voorheesville seeking new elementary school principal
The Voorheesville Board of Education is
currently
accepting applications from candidates who wish to become Voorheesville
Elementary School's new principal. Applications will be accepted until
July 25, 2008.
The district is searching for a candidate to replace
outgoing principal Kenneth Lein, who is leaving the district to work
with at-risk students in the Albany City School District.
Superintendent Linda Langevin will screen potential
candidates. Successful candidates will then be interviewed by the
district's administrative team, followed by individual stakeholder groups. Based on
input from those groups, Superintendent Langevin will select the top
candidates to be interviewed by the Board of Education, which will make
the final decision.
The board expects to appoint a new principal no
later than August 11 and that the candidate will begin working at the
elementary school on September 1.
In the meantime, the board appointed Edward Diegel
as interim principal of the elementary school. He will serve on an
as-needed basis, meaning he will not work every day, but only when
necessary. He was appointed June 17.
Diegel was the principal of Voorheesville
Elementary School for 15 years, retiring after the 2003-04 school year.
He served as the high school's interim associate principal from October
to November 2007 after former associate principal Michael Paolino left
the district to become principal of Guilderland High School.
