Board of Education now accepting Extra Mile Award nominations

Do you know someone whose efforts to enrich the Voorheesville Central School District go above and beyond the usual call of duty? If so, you can let other people know about the person's dedication by nominating them for an "Extra Mile Award."

The Board of Education's “Extra Mile Awards” recognize and honor people and organizations who go the “extra mile” to make an outstanding contribution to the Voorheesville Central School District.

Anyone who lives and/or works in the Voorheesvile school district can be nominated, including students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents and others.

A nomination form and a list of criteria on which nominees will be judged can be downloaded by clicking on the link below:

Award Criteria

Nominees are judged primarily on the significance of their contribution to the Voorheesville Central School District. Criteria to be considered will include:

  1. Can the nominee be considered a positive force for change in public education in the community?

  2. How has the nominee positively influenced one or more of the following areas:

    • program development

    • staff morale

    • community support

    • student interest

    • learning environment

    • generated support for education

  3. Has the nominee provided creative leadership in inspiring or motivating others to achieve or to contribute to education?

  4. Has the nominee provided special services or achieved above and beyond what is expected in the usual school program?

  5. Have others recognized the nominee as a force for constructive change in public education in the community and/or the state?

Nomination Format

  1. Nominations may be submitted by any person or organization.

  2. Nominators may make recommendations in more than one category.

  3. Nominations must be endorsed by at least two people

  4. Nominations shall be submitted on the appropriate form.

Awards Presentation

Awards will be presented at a ceremony on Monday, June 9, 2008.
