Way to go, Voorheesville Elementary School students!
At
a March "Pennies for Paws" assembly, the Hudson Mohawk Humane Society
reminded students about the importance of service in their own
community.
Deidre
Bruce, the humane society’s volunteer coordinator, her dog Sophie, along
with the humane society’s assistant director, came to speak to students
about making donations to the humane society.
For
two
weeks, students were encouraged to bring loose change, wet or dry cat
and dog food and plastic bottles to school to donate them to the
organization.
"The assembly went very well," said school guidance counselor Suzanne Paulson, who said that she
was proud of the students' response to the call for donations.
In addition to the Humane Society’s visit, fifth graders sang a song and
performed swing dancing, and the second-grade students sang a song as
well.
