Alum creates scholarship for Voorheesville
students

Thanks to the generosity of a Voorheesville Class of 1954 graduate,
Clayton A. Bouton High School seniors are now eligible for a new
scholarship.
Dr. Douglas Lonnstrom, a Siena
College Professor Emeritus, and his wife Christine, have chosen to
establish the scholarship as a way to give back to the
schools and community they have been a part of. The scholarship will
be granted each year to a Voorheesville high school senior who plans
to attend Siena College.
The Lonnstrom Scholarship is a
$1,000 award for the first year and an additional $5,000 during the
student's second year.
The new scholarship was recently
announced at a Dec. 1 ceremony at Siena’s Siena Hall. At the same
time, the “Lonnstrom Landing,” a meeting area for students and staff
at the college, was dedicated.
Voorheesville Central School District Superintendent Linda Langevin,
Middle/High School Principal Mark Diefendorf, and High School
Counselor Tim Kelley attended the event to acknowledge the
establishment of the endowment and to thank the Lonnstroms for their
generosity on behalf of district.
For more information, students and parents should contact the high
school guidance office at (518) 765-3314, Ext. 201.
