Elementary school principal search to be re-opened

August 25, 2008 - As you may be aware, the Voorheesville Central School District’s Board of Education and administration have been engaged in a search for an elementary school principal. They recently completed the search and interview process, which began in July.

Of the four applicants who were interviewed by four stakeholder groups—comprised of parents, community members, staff and administrators—no consensus could be reached on any one candidate. Therefore, after much consideration, the Board of Education and administration have decided to reopen the search.

While each of these candidates possessed very strong attributes, there are many criteria that factor into the selection of a successful candidate. Job requirements, salary, timing, organizational needs and career decisions are just a few of those factors that have to be a match for both the school district and candidate.

Interim Superintendent Dr. Ray Colucciello will be designing a new search process and schedule during the months of September and October. Colucciello will begin his new duties effective September 1.

In light of this decision, we are fortunate to have an exceptional interim principal Ed Diegel, who has graciously agreed to continue in this role for the foreseeable future.

Thank you for your continued support and rest assured that we will keep you updated throughout the process.
