Students raise trout in t he
classroom
Voorheesville Elementary students in Tim Mattison's
fourth-grade classroom are discovering what it's like to
spend the better part of the school year raising trout.
They started in October when the rainbow trout eggs
arrived and will end in the spring by releasing their
trout into a local stream in cooperation with the
Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).

Earlier this month, the district hosted more than 40
educational leaders from 14 school districts to discuss
sharing services in these difficult budgetary times and
beyond.

Voorheesville CSD is in the process of transitioning to
the GMail
e-mail system. New e-mail addresses for middle and high
school faculty and staff went into effect Feb. 1, 2012.
New email addresses for district office and elementary
faculty and staff go into effect March 5.

Staff members volunteered at the Ronald
McDonald House by cooking dinners and cleaning up on two
recent evenings.

"Little Shop of Horrors" pre-sale tickets now available
Pre-sale
tickets for the high school Drama Club's production of
"Little Shop of Horrors" are now available. Show times
are Friday and Saturday, March 30 and 31 at 7:15 p.m.
and Sunday, April 1 at 2:15 p.m. in the Lydia Tobler
Performing Arts Center at Voorheesville High School.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and
seniors. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Blackbird Paradise Garden awarded funding for
state-of-the-art hydration system
Early this spring, the Blackbird Paradise Garden will be
improved with a $5,300 state-of-the-art automated
hydration system thanks to the Voorheesville Community
and School Foundation, the Parent Teacher Association
and the Community Foundation of the Greater Capital
Region Standish Fund.
