Word Wall Words

    The word wall words are essentially "high frequency words" or "sight words". These are 100 words that your child should be able to read and spell correctly. Although some of the words can be decoded, many of the words follow irregular spelling patterns. It is important that your child memorize these words and be able to identify them quickly in text. When the words are learned and  become automatic, students are able to read more quickly and with fluency. It also allows them to focus on decoding more challenging words that they may encounter in the text as well as improving overall comprehension.

    The word wall words will be introduced in groups of four or five words. Although we will be spending a lot of time in the classroom working with the words, it is important that the words are also practiced at home. Thanks for your support!
