Science 8, Physical Science, taught by Mr. Iannotti
Textbook:
Science Explorer: Physical Science, Prentice Hall,
2002
Materials needed in class each day:
• Calculator (nonscientific)
• pen and pencil (blue or black ink)
• 1.5 inch binder with paper and 4 dividers*
* Binders must have the following sections:
1- Notes & Homework
2- Tests & Quizzes
3- Laboratory Assignments
4- Science 8 Assessment
Course Expectations:
Students are expected to come to class on time,
prepared, and ready to learn. Participation in class discussions and
activities is necessary for student success. Assignments are expected to
be handed in on time. Credit will be lost if assignments are submitted
after the due date. Students are responsible for identifying and
completing work missed due to absences, tardiness, and music lessons.
Grading Policy:
A) Tests (40% of grade) – Tests will be given about
every two weeks, and will always be announced several days ahead of
time. If you miss a test, it will be your responsibility to schedule a
make-up time.
B) Quizzes (20% of grade) – There will be at least
one quiz given each week. Quizzes will be based on class notes from the
previous few classes or on homework from earlier in the week. Quizzes
will usually be announced ahead of time, but may sometimes be given
unannounced.
C) Binder Check (20% of grade) – A binder check will
take place near the end of each quarter. Students should have all notes,
handouts, homework assignments, tests and quizzes, and laboratory
assignments in their binder. Binders will be graded on organization and
content.

activities must be completed during regular class time.
E) Homework and Participation (10% of grade) – There
will be several homework assignments each week. Homework is due at the
beginning of the period.
