Math 7X, taught by Ms. Sebert
Objectives or goals:
Extend number sets & systems; Identify and use
number patterns;
Apply number concepts to problem situations: Analyze diagrams & graphs;
Use
equations & formulas in problem solving. Extend statistics, geometry,
probability and
Algebra.
Textbook:
Prentice Hall, Mathematics – Course 3, c. 2004
Supplies:
Pocket folder, pencils, calculator, ruler (inch-cm),
paper
Classroom procedures/expectations/rules:
CLASSWORK - Be prepared; Participate & ask
questions; Cooperate with partners
or small groups; Make corrections on homework
HOMEWORK - Given 4-5 times per week; usually
due next day; should be written iN AGENDA-on HOTLINE daily; Should be
brought home in folder. Can often be corrected, redone, or
finished; May have comments to be read & reacted to: worth 0-4 points;
Point deducted if
handed in late or incomplete. Only 1 day late allowed for credit.
QUIZZES/TESTS - Usually 20-35 questions: 10-15 min. Once per
week. Grades below 70% can
be corrected with teacher to gain points for a passing grade; Quizzes
and tests are worth
30-100 points based on difficulty and time. Some end-of-unit quizzes
count as double.
MUSIC LESSONS - Let teacher know; Homework due on time; Get work
for next day; May
have to make up missed quiz or classwork; Excused for full period tests
FOLDER - Best source of information to study (study guides); Good
way to check on student
progress (quizzes); Cleaned out/organized each unit
EVALUATION METHOD=NUMERICAL GRADE - Grading is done based on a
point system. Each assignment will be given a point value and credit
will be awarded based on the amount of points earned over the total
available.
ABSENCES - Work will be available upon return & due soon after;
No lost credit if done within
reasonable time limit; If out several days, call for work;
Vacations--work MAY be
available ahead.
EXTRA HELP - After school when I’m available (Tues., Weds.,
Thurs)
