Math 6 & 6X, taught by Ms. Brenda Clair
This course reinforces skills taught at the
elementary level. Students are expected to master these skills by the
end of the year. New topics include algebra, ratio, proportion, percent,
and probability. There is an emphasis on integrating math and writing.
***NYS will be instituting a revised math sequence
beginning in the ninth grade during the 2007-08 school year. The high
school sequence at that time will change from Course 1, 2, and 3 to
Integrated Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra II and Trigonometry. More
information will be provided in the high school course and program
guide. Students in the 6X program will take Integrated Algebra in 8th
grade.
Objectives or goals:
Students will work toward mastery of basic
mathematical concepts. These skills will be applied to more advanced
topics introduced throughout the year.
