About us
The Friends of Music is composed of a group of
parents, teachers and community members who work together to support
music in the Voorheesville Central School District.
The purpose of the organization is to encourage the
active participation and interests of students, parents, friends and the
school community in the district’s music education program.
The organization looks to foster school spirit and
pride, to coordinate volunteers to assist the music staff when
requested, to assist with publicity for music events, and to participate
in fundraising activities for the benefit of the choral and the
instrumental music programming.
Friends of Music is a non-profit organization
operating within the Voorheesville Central School District in support of
music education programs.

Activities
We are proud to play host to various musical events
throughout the year, including the annual Cabaret, a musical review
featuring the talents of our students and faculty.
We have hosted the NYSSMA festival, Empire State Youth Orchestra,
Colonial Council Music Festival, as well as a variety of instrumental
and vocal ensembles from around the Northeast. Last spring, Friends of
Music supported the dedication of the Lydia C. Tobler Performing Arts
Center with a concert and reception in her honor.
In addition to providing annual music scholarships for college and
summer camps, Friends of Music recently made a large donation to
establish a state-of-the-art music technology lab at the Middle/High
School and donated funds toward the purchase of hand bells for the
Elementary School Bell Choir. We have also sponsored a band instrument
garage sale, which enabled us to put ten instruments back into the hands
of young musicians. Thanks to all who donated!
